Health

We hope that all the people that come to live at Twin Care are registered with a dentist, local GP and optician (if required). If this is not the case, then you will be responsible for starting the process of becoming registered with them and you will be supported by the staff at the home. In the information packs, we have provided you with details of the local health services and how to get in contact with them. As you are on a journey to independence you will be required to administer your own medication. Our staff at the home will provide you support with this and teach you how to complete a self-administration record. Any medication you have, whether it is prescribed or non-prescribed, needs to be stored and locked in your safe. However, there may be exceptions where it is agreed that you are not quite ready for this yet, in this case, staff will store your medication for you until you are ready to do this independently. Like your previous placements, you will be given access to other health-related services such as sexual health, drugs, alcohol and smoking. The contact details will be provided in the information pack. If you feel you need extra support with any appointments then staff will provide appropriate support, guidance and advice.
